A busy day with 5 runners

We have a busy day with 6 runners.

Protest Rally has made the trip up to Haydock for the 2.40pm. He is a colt who has taken quite a lot longer to come to hand than I had expected.  He has got a great attitude and is very laid back so it might take him a race or two to really sharpen up but this seems a nice starting point, albeit a very competitive race.

At Salisbury we have 5 runners:

Peony (2.50pm) looks fantastic and her work has been progressive. She is a big scopey filly and I am hoping that she makes a nice debut today. She has had to do a lot of stalls work as she is a bit of a slow learner and doesn’t jump very well but she was better again the other day and hopefully Hector can get her out from a wide draw and get her involved. It is a very competitive race and I would like to see her just run with promise.

Cochin (2.50pm) is really well and I think she has improved for her debut at Kempton. I am looking forward to seeing her on grass and I think a stiff 7f at Salisbury will suit her. I hope she runs better than her odds suggest and I think it is more open than maybe the betting would indicate. Unfortunately she has got a bad draw again but Pat knows her and can hopefully get a decent enough position from out wide.

Poetic Union (3.20pm) looks fantastic and I am really looking forward to seeing her run today. She is in at the deep end and it is a big ask especially from a wide draw but she is very well and I think it is well worth a shot. She won very nicely at Newmarket on her second start, the form of which has worked out well so I am sure she is a filly who will be up to Stakes class even if it doesn’t happen today.

Makarova (3.55pm) looks bigger and better than she has ever looked and I am really looking forward to seeing her run today. She has got a good draw and Ryan will no doubt give her a very good ride so hopefully she has got every chance of getting her head back in front.

American Flag (4.56pm) looks great and I have been very happy with him lately.  He looks great, is moving very well and I am hoping that Hector can just get some cover, not too far back and a replica of his second or third start will see him go very close.
