Almaqam impresses at Sandown

Almaqam was an extremely impressive winner at Sandown last night winning the Listed Heron Stakes for owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum. He looks a very exciting colt.

Today we have 6 runners at Bath, Goodwood and Haydock.

Red Sand has done very well since his debut at Bath just over 2 weeks ago. He is drawn in 4 which should be fine given he has got some experience and I think he has got a great chance if he can step up from that debut which I am sure he will.

Ardennes I am hoping can run very well here. It looks a tough race by Bath standards but he is drawn well and Billy is a very good young jockey so fingers crossed for a run full of promise.

Aurora Dawn back on grass today. I think the 7f should suit and she is drawn well in 5. Saffie knows her well from home so I am hoping she can get into a nice rhythm and relaxed. If that goes well I am expecting a big run.

Stage Effect heads to Haydock and I think she will suit the cut in the ground. She has got a run under her belt and Tom is on board so fingers crossed she can come on for her debut.

Queen’s Reign - this looks a competitive race as you would expect but I am looking forward to seeing her over a mile today.

Midream will suit conditions and it will be testing ground. Tom Marquand is now on board and I think this is a good chance for her to get some black type.

Best of luck to connections today. Pictured below is Almaqam last night winning under William Buick.
