“Better than Stradivarius” - Ginistrelli breaks his maiden at the second time of asking

Mikael Magnusson, co-owner of Ginistrelli with Bjorn Nielsen, boldly stated after his colt's maiden win at Newmarket yesterday that Ginistrelli is better than Stradivarius who finished fourth behind Cracksman in this same race two years ago. Obviously a tongue in cheek remark but we do hold this son of Frankel in high regard and he showed a tremendous attiude to fend off a strong challenge from Ralph Beckett's James Park Woods who is also reportedly held in some regard. With no one prepared to make the running Gerald Mosse quite rightly seized the initiative and set a moderate gallop which ultimately would not have suited Ginistrelli who stems from a stout family. That will be him done for the year now and he will be a colt to look forward to next year.

We send two runners to Chelmsford this evening, Global Melody runs in the second division of the Class 5 handicap over seven furlongs, he is drawn in 3 of 10 and will be ridden by Gerald Mosse. He hated the undulations at Nottingham last time and coming back in trip we hope he can be very competitive before he goes to the sales next week.

Toshima (pictured) runs in the Class 5 novice over an extended mile and five furlongs, he is drawn in 2 of 7 and will also be ridden by Gerald Mosse. He broke his maiden last time out at Newcastle on only his second start. There are two others with idential profiles in this competitive looking event but we are hopeful that he can continue to progress and the extra furlong will help today. He too is heading to the sales in Newmarket next week.
