Eight runners today between Haydock, Newmarket & Chester
We have another busy day in store today with eight runners at three different meetings. We start at Haydock where Cap Francais (pictured below) runs in the Class 4 novice over a mile where he bids to defy a penalty having won last time out at Salisbury. He has done very little wrong and is an exciting prospect so we are hopeful that he can continue his progression today. He is drawn in stall 9 of 11 and will be ridden by Liam Keniry.
Aeolus was lit up by the first time blinkers last time out at Doncaster and subsequently did not see out the six and a half furlongs, dropping back to five today we hope that they will have the same effect in which case he should be very competitive. He runs in the Class 2 handicap, is drawn in stall 7 of 17 and will also be ridden by Liam Keniry.
Our last runner at Haydock is Garbanzo in the Class 2 handicap over a mile and six furlongs, he is drawn 7 of 8 and will also be ridden by Liam Keniry. He completed his hat-trick over this same course and distance last time out getting up in the final strides. The softer the ground the better for him as he needs every yard of this trip, it looks a much more competitive event today but hopefully be can be in the shake-up at the finish.
At Newmarket we have Sabador in the Cambridgeshire, a Class 2 heritage handicap over nine furlongs, he is drawn in stall 3 of 34 and will be ridden by Jamie Spencer. He really deserves to win a big handicap having gone close on a number of occasions this season. This trip is a step into the unknown but if he stays he will go very close.
Sunday Star also runs at Newmarket in the first division of the fillies' maiden over seven furlongs, she is drawn in 8 of 9 and will be ridden by Gerald Mosse. She was unlucky not to win at Goodwood last time out, the form of which is working out very well, she should improve again which will give her every chance in what will no doubt be a very warm Newmarket maiden.
Our last runner at Newmarket is Baba Ghanouj who runs in the second division of the same fillies' maiden, she is drawn in 6 of 9 and will also be ridden by Gerald Mosse. She is a nice filly who is a half-sister to Agrotera, she looks talented but will be in need of today's experience.
Finally we send two runners to Chester, both of whom will be ridden by Trevor Whelan. Simoon runs in the Class 3 handicap over an extended mile and a quarter and is drawn in stall 5 of 11. He really deserves to get his head in front after a very consistent but frustrating season. This looks a good opportunity for him so hopefully things can go his way today.
Sky Marshal is our final runner of the day, he runs in the Class 4 handicap over an extended mile and six furlongs and is drawn in stall 8 of 11. He is yet to win on the turf having won three times on the all-weather but has been running well in defeat so we are hopeful of a big run today.
