Glorious Goodwood - Day 1
We have an exciting week ahead at Glorious Goodwood with a number of runners over the 5 days.
We start off with 4 runners today:
Crack Shot lines up in the 1.50pm Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap. He has obviously been very disappointing the last twice but he has got a good draw today and it will be great to have Jamie back on board. The easy 10f should suit and he looks great so I am hoping for a big run.
Next up is the Group 2 Lennox Stakes where English Oak runs for Wathnan Racing. He looks fabulous and has been in great form since Ascot. I can’t wait to see him in a higher grade today and I think he will be very competitive at this level. He has obviously got a lot of ground to make up on official ratings and also with Noble Dynasty from when they met in the spring at Newmarket but I do think he has improved a lot and is going to continue doing so. He has got a good draw with pace around him and hopefully James can get a clear passage in which case I am expecting him to run very well.
Queen's Reign runs in the 5.20pm Handicap. She looks great and has been training really well. It is a wide open handicap this but she is drawn well in 6 and hopefully Saffie can get her into a good rhythm and can get a good trip round which is not easy at Goodwood. If so I think she will have as good a chance as any and I can’t wait to see her run.
Balmoral Lady is our final runner of the day in the 5.55pm Handicap. She is taking her racing well and this is obviously a quick turnaround. I think she is well handicapped and I think the easy 6 furlongs will suit. It is great to have Hollie on board so fingers crossed.
Best of luck to all today. Pictured below, English Oak and his regular rider Matty.
