Royal Ascot Day 2
We have our first two runners at the Royal meeting today, with one runner at Chelmsford this evening.
Matthew Flinders takes his chance in the Royal Hunt Cup this afternoon at 5pm. He looks magnificent and his preparation for this race has been absolutely spot on. This race has been in my mind since the end of last year and it looks like the weather is going to be kind and the rain won’t come until after racing, so I am really hopeful of a huge run in a race that we all know needs a lot of luck to win. He is looking and moving as well as I’ve ever had him so I’m excited.
Dreamloper heads to the Kensington Palace Stakes (6.10pm) in cracking form. The ground and draw should both be in her favour and hopefully we will see the best of her today in which case she could well be right up there at the business end of the race.
This evening at Chelmsford, Petalite runs in the 8.23pm Handicap. She is in good form at home and I think she has taken a step forward in her training since her last run. She’s drawn well in 2 and Eddy knows her well from home and she certainly has the ability to win a race like this.
Best of luck to connections today and fingers crossed for a good start to the week.
